Faculty, staff and students came out in a socially distanced way to enjoy beautiful weather and ice cream in celebration of #AllinforDavidson鈥275 ice cream cups distributed, more than $1.5 million raised.
This year, strength of community and enduring support have defined Davidson鈥檚 ability to lead into the future.
The college鈥檚 eighth annual #AllinforDavidson one-day, community-themed giving challenge saw 3,609 donors giving $1,558,595. Part of this total is a generous $500,000 challenge gift that was unlocked once the donor total exceeded 2,000.
鈥淒avidson alums continually place Davidson among the colleges and universities with top participation rates across the country,鈥 said Caitlin James 鈥14, director of annual giving. 鈥淵esterday鈥檚 giving challenge shows us why. We show up for each other and for the future of the college. It was a really great day to be a Wildcat, and we are grateful for each and every donor who made the day a success!鈥
With all 50 states represented and gifts pouring in from across the globe, #AllinforDavidson reached far and wide. Momentum was steadfast across social media platforms as well as across campus. Students took 鈥渃ash cab鈥 rides in decorated golf carts; they learned about the impact of philanthropy at Davidson; and they enjoyed treats and togetherness within current COVID-19 guidelines.
Throughout the pandemic, students, alums, families, faculty and staff have responded with creativity, optimism and dedication. A lot was asked and expected, and the Davidson community has come through with a renewed sense of mutual support and respect for the greater mission of the college.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a gift to be a part of 黑料社区 every day, and #AllinforDavidson expresses that gratitude and unites our community around our primary purpose and commitment to leadership and service,鈥 said President Carol E. Quillen. 鈥淲e rely on the generosity of so many alumni and friends to ensure that Davidson graduates are equipped to think rigorously, to distinguish among values, to lead creatively and to serve with courage. Thank you for turning your love for Davidson into gifts that truly make a difference, both for our students and for the world they will enter.鈥
The #AllinforDavidson challenge first launched in June 2014. Including yesterday鈥檚 total, more than $8 million has been raised in new gifts and challenge dollars through this annual, one-day event.
